Overview
TypeSpot is a browser extension that lets you inspect typography properties on webpages. The extension is built around a local-only approach: typography inspection happens on your device, in your browser.
Data we collect
TypeSpot does not collect personal data. It does not require an account and does not operate a backend database or analytics service.
TypeSpot does not send inspected webpage content, browsing history, page URLs, page titles, selected text, or DOM selectors to Hussein Akl or to a TypeSpot server.
Browser permissions
TypeSpot uses a small set of Chrome extension permissions so its inspection features can work:
- activeTab — temporary access to the webpage you choose to inspect after you invoke TypeSpot.
- scripting — allows TypeSpot to run its inspector on the active page when requested.
- storage — stores the most recently inspected typography values locally in the extension's browser storage.
- contextMenus — provides the “Inspect typography” right-click command.
TypeSpot does not request permanent access to every website through an <all_urls> host permission.
Local storage
TypeSpot may save your last inspected typography values and an inspection timestamp using Chrome's local extension storage so they can be shown again in the extension popup. This information stays in your browser and is not uploaded by TypeSpot.
The saved record is limited to typography values such as font family, size, weight, style, line height, letter spacing, text transform, and text color.
Analytics, advertising, and third parties
TypeSpot does not include analytics, advertising SDKs, AI services, tracking pixels, or third-party data brokers. TypeSpot does not sell user data.
Changes to this policy
If TypeSpot's functionality or data practices change in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated to reflect those changes. The effective date above will be revised when appropriate.
